Troubleshooting you existing VortexBox
Your VortexBox will show up in the network folder on your computer. You can click on it to open the file share. You can then “drag and drop” files from your computer (or a USB drive attached to your computer) to the VortexBox.
There is no user name or password required to access your VortexBox.
On MAC computers sometimes it will ask you for a user and password. Select Connect as guest. If you don't see the VortexBox in your network folder you may need to use “Connect to Server”
Click in Finder → Go → Connect to Server
Type smb:ipaddress To get the IP address of the VortexBox you can look on http://myvortexbox.com So for example if the IP of your VortexBox is 192.168.1.10 type smb:192.168.1.10 in the Connect to Server box.
On Windows computers sometimes the VortexBox will not show up in the network folder. This is caused by a bug in Windows. Sometimes it will show up after a day or two.
On any version of Windows you can always access the VortexBox file share by using the Win + R “Run” box.
Press the Windows key (in between ctrl and alt) and the R key at the same time. You will get the Run box. You can then type \\vortexbox or \\vortexbox.local if they don't work you can try the IP address. To get the IP address of the VortexBox you can look on http://myvortexbox.com. Then type use \\ipaddress in the Run box.
So for example if the IP of your VortexBox is 192.168.1.10 type \\192.168.1.10 in the run box.
You can now access your file share as normal.
